The 1st Tihany Garda Festival, Gardalia, was organised by the House of Culture in Tihany on 16-17 November 2002 in several locations. The first edition was already a great success, although at that time there was only one accompanying boat to watch the fishing. The fish soup and fish food cooking competition is now also a very popular event, with three teams entering for the first time, and in recent years the competition has attracted more than 30 teams.

We are going to the protected Tihany peninsula, a European Diploma, in the Balaton-Highlands National Park. Besides the natural values, the peninsula’s historical monuments are also outstanding. The cultivation of lavender in Tihany, which is native to southern Europe, dates back to the mid-1920s and its traditions are revived every year at the Lavender Festival.
